These Days Won't Last Forever.

Life with our babies is so precious and I can personally attest to how incredibly fast it flies by. I am by no means a perfect mom. I get frustrated and tired but I try to constantly remind myself that we waited four years for this little girl. FOUR years with empty arms. Four years with plenty of time to get out the door in a moment's notice and go have drinks at a bar and four years of wearing clothes without baby puke all over them. There is nothing in this world more important than my baby and if it means going to bed with her at 8:00 so I can nurse her into the land of Blinkin, Winkin and Nod then so be it. These days won't last forever. They're only little for so long.

Six Months Old

I can not believe that it's already Hazel's Half Birthday. Seriously, where did the last six months go? I feel like she was just a newborn and now she's halfway to a year. It's going by much too fast but Mike and I are loving every  minute of it!  We love and cherish this little girl. I took Hazel outside today for a little Half Birthday photo shoot. Our kid is too damn cute.

I'm six months old today! I can sit up on my own, I love to look at my animals, I am rolling everywhere and starting to get into things. I've tried a few solid foods but mama's milk is still my favorite thing- I am weighing almost 16 pounds now! I love to chew on everything, including my toes. I don't like long naps anymore but I make up for it at night by sleeping 11-12 hours, with a few feedings from mom. I love to be outside and to look at the world and I like my stroller, except when I'm tired. That goes for my car seat too. I'm such a happy baby and love to jabber. I say "Mamamama" and "Dadadadada" all the time now!

Send Some Love

*****trigger warning: child loss*****

Yesterday one of the Facebook pages I follow, The Progressive Parent, posted that their 14 month old baby had passed away in his sleep Friday night. It broke my heart. I can not even begin to imagine the grief she is feeling.

I don't know her but I cried for her. I feel like I know her heart just by reading this. I cried for her precious baby when I nursed Hazel to sleep last night, savoring the moment as I knew she will never be able to again. Mike had to come back in and give her extra kisses. It's so incredibly sad and unnerving.

"With a broken heart, I'm here to tell you that my sweet baby Patrick passed away last night in his sleep- possibly SIDS- autopsy on Monday.

I am beyond heartbroken, beyond numb... But the ONE thing bringing me peace right now is that I am confident in our love and attachment. I am so grateful I never let him cry it out because those minutes were precious ones. I am grateful I let the laundry fall by the wayside so I could sit and nurse my baby on the couch and cuddle when he didn't feel well.

I love him so, so much. I don't even know what this means for the page or he blog... just please, keep our family in your prayers- I still have to tell my 5 year old daughter when she wakes up.

Rest in peace, Pat Pat- and give your grandpa a high 5 for me. You are deeply loved and deeply missed... and always will be. ♥"

If you get a chance, go show this mama some love.

Plus One for Alabama

I love that it's February and I can dry my diapers outside.
And I love this angle because with those trees we could almost be back in WA.

Baby #2

Don't get all excited. No, I'm not pregnant. Mike and I have been talking about future children. We will be more than happy with Hazel but I am from a big family and would love for her to have at least one sibling. I know it's morbid but i don't want her to be all alone when Mike and I are gone.  I've  heard stories about women miraculously getting pregnant on their own after IVF but I am not going to get my hopes up. It's still hard being surrounded by fertile army wives who managed to get pregnant on birth control. Infertility sucks.

Do i really want to go through the hassle of tracking my BBT, ovualtion strip, blah blah when it didn't work before? Plus I have yet to have a post partum period--thank you breastfeeding! I

I'm so grateful that we have been blessed with Hazel. I get to stare into the face of a true miracle every single day. I just wish I could say, "Okay, Hazel is a year old I think we should have another baby" and BAM be pregnant again. But nope, it won't be easy for us.  I would love to go back to WA and see my old doctor for IVF again but who knows what Uncle Sam will have to say about that. Did I mention infertility sucks?
